Short name Emissions

Name Emissions from point and diffuse sources
Short Description Emissions of pollutants from point and diffuse sources.
Definition Annual loads of nutrients, organic matter and other chemical substances from point and diffuse sources to inland surface, transitional and coastal waters, aggregated by pollutant and spatial unit (river basin district (RBD) or river basin district sub-unit level).
Methodology for obtaining data The spatial unit related to the emissions is uniquely identified by combination of values in the fields "spatialUnitIdentifier" and "SpatialUnitIdentifierScheme". The spatial unit identifier must be present in the list of spatial unit list (https://dd.eionet.europa.eu/vocabulary/wise/Spatia...).
Possible spatial aggregation levels are:
- River Basin Districts (RBD),
- RBD sub-units,
- Countries.
The country level should only be used if more detailed information is not available.

Each record in this table must have a unique combination of the values in these fields (no duplicates can exist):
- spatialUnitIdentifier
- spatialUnitIdentifierScheme
- phenomenonTimeReferencePeriod
- observedPropertyDeterminandCode
- parameterEmissionsSourceCategory
- parameterEPRTRfacilities

The "phenomenonTimeReferenceYear" (YYYY) refers to the year the Emission value was determined for.

The field "observedPropertyDeterminandCode" (Determinand code) contains the unique identifier of the pollutant. The field "resultEmissionUoM" is related to the determinand ("observedPropertyDeterminandCode"). A list of determinands and related requested units of measure is provided.

The field "parmeterEmissionSourceCategory" refers to diffuse and point source categories at different hierarchical level (https://dd.eionet.europa.eu/dataelements/latest/pa... see vocabulary and Exports).
If reported emission value ("resultEmissionsValue") for point source categories ('PT', 'I', 'U', 'U2', 'U24', 'O') includes E-PRTR facilities, the field "parameterEPRTRfacilities" should be reported using the code 'both'.

For the emission value "resultEmissionsValue" use a decimal point '.' as decimal separator. Do not use a comma ','.
If the emission value "resultEmissionsValue" is reported please specify the method used for determining the emissions value in the field "procedureEmissionsMethod". A code list is provided (link to data element description).

If the emission value is not available, not known, not relevant or not significant, then keep the "resultEmissionsValue" field empty (do not use '0' and select the correct code for the "resultObservationStatus" field instead. A code list is provided (link to data element description). This field can be also used to describe situations when the specific source category does not follow the standard definition.

If you need to give any further information, provide it under "Remarks"

The following fields are mandatory:
- spatialUnitIdentifier
- SpatialUnitIdentifierScheme
- phenomenonTimeReferenceYear
- observedPropertyDeterminandCode
- parameterEmissionSourceCategory
