Identifier BiologyEQRData
Short name BiologyEQRData
Dataset WISE SoE - Biology

Name Annual biology EQR data by monitoring site
Short Description Annually aggregated biological ecological quality ratio (EQR) data from rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal waters, by monitoring site.
Definition Annually aggregated biological ecological quality ratio (EQR) data from rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal waters, by monitoring site.
Methodology for obtaining data Biology data should be reported as national Ecological Quality Ratios (EQR) and/or as normalised EQR values (nEQR). Reporters can calculate the nEQR given the class boundaries (in EQR scale) for the determinand and for the national water body type, using the formula:

normalisedEQR = (EQR - LowerBoundaryEQR)/(UpperBoundaryEQR - LowerBoundaryEQR)*0.2 + LowerBoundaryNormEQR

where LowerBoundaryEQR and UpperBoundaryEQR are the lower and upper status class boundaries in the national EQR scale, respectively, the factor 0.2 is the width of any status class at the normalised EQR scale, and LowerBoundaryNormEQR is the lower class boundary in the normalised EQR scale. For an example, see https://dd.eionet.europa.eu/visuals/DD_WISE2_figur...

Each record in this table must have a unique combination of the values in these fields (no duplicates can exist):
- monitoringSiteIdentifier
- monitoringSiteIdentifierScheme
- observedPropertyDeterminandBiologyEQRCode
- phenomenonTimeReferenceYear

The monitoring site is uniquely identified by combination of values in the fields:
- monitoringSiteIdentifier
- monitoringSiteIdentifierScheme

The monitoring site identifier should be present in the list of monitoring sites that is kept updated with the data reported under the WFD Spatial data flow (or the WISE-5 Spatial Data for countries that do not report under WFD).

The value "parameterNCSWaterBodyType" reported in this table must be identical to a value "parameterNCSWaterBodyType" reported in the table BiologyEQRClassificationProcedure. For more information on water body types, please see point 6 in the Methodology section of the dataset definition.

The following [resultObservationStatus] codes should be used for these specific situations in the data:
- 'A' - if the resultEQRValue > 1, to confirm that the value is correct (this will prevent a warning message in the respective QC test).
- 'L', 'M', 'N' or 'O' - if neither 'resultEQRValue' nor 'resultNormalisedEQRValue' can be provided. Reporters can choose a code which they think fits best the specific situation. These codes must not be used if any of the result values is not empty (otherwise the delivery will be blocked).
- 'Z' - to indicate records, that were already reported in previous deliveries, that are either retired or not valid and should be removed.
No other [resultObservationStatus] code is valid and they will not be accepted (delivery will be blocked).
