Concept URI https://dd.eionet.europa.eu/vocabulary/landcover/eagle/LCH-supralittoral
Preferred label Supralittoral
Definition The supralittoral zone is the splash and spray zone high enough above the water line to not be frequently covered with water or waves. Still this area is influenced by spray water, either in coastal areas from sea water or along inland water bodies. Only during storm surges or irregular water peak level events these areas are exposed to being flooded. Example: Coastal saltmarshes or young dunes in transition from halophilous pioneer vegetation to halophile vegetation.
