| Definition | A national park is a larger area where nature conservation is the primary purpose, often in combination with recreational use. It stands under authoritative administration, who also provides decent touristic infrastructure. Often it is a reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns. The applied rules that count inside a national park, and how it is administered may differ from country to country. Throughout all national parks the common idea is the conservation of 'wild nature' for posterity and as a symbol of national pride. |
