| Definition | Growth form of a plant that uses other plants or objects as physical sustaining support to climb towards the sunlight, because it cannot develop its own sustaining stems (unlike a tree). Such plants can either live as parasites and extract nutrition from their host plant (e.g. a tree), or feed themselves from the ground. Examples for climbing growth form are ivy, lianas, pepper, vanilla plant or grapevine. |
