Extensive and varied in the southern part of the region, they are represented further north by isolated outposts in the coastal region of Syria and in south central Anatolia, where [Pinus halepensis] occurs in the thermo-Mediterranean zone of the Cilician plain, apparently mixed with [Pinus brutia].
