| Definition | Uncommon thermophilous [Quercus petraea] woods of the Pannonic basin, developed in Hungary, in particular in the Central Hungarian Range, extending to Lower Austria, southwestern Moravia, southern Slovakia and western Romania, on andesite, granite or slate substrates and slightly acidic soils of south-facing slopes, somewhat transitional to acidophilous oak woods of unit 41.57. [Quercus petraea] is monodominant in the tree layer or associated with [Quercus polycarpa]; the understorey, almost devoid of a shrub layer, is composed of an admixture of oak forest species and siliceous rock sward elements; [Lembotropis nigricans] ([Cytisus nigricans]), [Veronica officinalis], [Hieracium bauhinii], [Hieracium silvaticum], [Calamagrostis arundinacea], [Anthericum ramosum], [Sedum sexangulare] are frequent. |
