Definition Local [Fagus sylvatica] forests of the tree-limit in the upper montane or subalpine level of the high Dinarides, with extremely limited outliers in the southeastern Alps, not forming a clear belt, contrary to more western formations of the [Aceri-Fagion], though, like them, characterized by the frequent admixture of [Acer pseudoplatanus] in the canopy and of [Adenostyletalia] megaphorb species in the understorey. [Acer heldreichii], [Sorbus chamaemespilus], [Salix appendiculata], [Myrrhis odorata], [Cicerbita alpina], [Aconitum paniculatum], [Chaerophyllum hirsutum], [Petasites albus], [Stellaria nemorum] are noteworthy accompaniers.
