Concept: Permanent mesotrophic lakes, ponds and pools in the eunishabitats vocabulary

Concept URI http://eunis.eea.europa.eu/eunishabitats/C1.2
Preferred label Permanent mesotrophic lakes, ponds and pools
Definition Lakes and pools with waters fairly rich in nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) and dissolved bases (pH often 6-7). Communities e.g. of [Littorelletea uniflorae] and [Isoeto-Nanojuncetea]. Many unpolluted lowland lakes and ponds are naturally mesotrophic, and support dense beds of macrophytes, which are absent in polluted waters. Beds of charophytes can occur in mesotrophic (C1.25) as well as in oligotrophic (C1.14) waters.
