| Definition | This species origin type indicates that the growing conditions of the original habitat type of a plant or plant association is changing, e.g. due to external climatic or ecological factors. This process makes the species adapt to the new habitat conditions and migrate into another (neighboring) area, where the migrating species find comparable conditions similar to its former native habitat. The phenomenon of migrating species follows rather long-term effects based on changes in natural environment (man-made or not), in contrary to invasive behavior. |
