Definition Low, spiny, almost monospecific fringes formed by the Ibero-African shrubby spurge [Securinega tinctoria] on the outer edge of temporary or permanent water courses of great seasonal amplitude in the southwestern quadrant of the Iberian peninsula (Montes de Toledo, Sierra Morena, Extremadura, southwestern Andalusia, southern Portugal). Among the few associated plants, are the lianas [Bryonia cretica], [Tamus communis] and the endemic [Clematis campaniflora]. [Pyrus bourgaeana] may transgress from neighbouring communities.
