Definition Lacunar, cespitose steppic grasslands of the northeastern Adriatic dominated by the tall andropogonid grasses [Chrysopogon gryllus] and [Dichanthium ischaemum], associated with [Cleistogenes serotina], and with [Carex humilis], [Anthyllis adriadica], [Asperula purpurea], the endemic [Centaurea cristata], [Artemisia alba], [Bupleurum veronense], [Petrorhagia saxifraga], [Argyrolobium zanonii], [Onosma javorkae], [Carlina corymbosa], [Gentiana tergestina]. They are characteristic of the Triestine karst, with uncommon occurrence in karstic Slovenia. These tall-grass steppic grasslands are intermediate between the more mediterranean andropogonid grass steppes of unit 34.6344 and the peri-Alpine [Chrysopogon] grasslands of unit 34.327. Related [Chrysopogon] grasslands also exist in units 34.751 and 34.753.
