<dd3:Methodology><![CDATA[Some EEA Member Countries and Marine Conventions have previously submitted data on hazardous substances in transitional, coastal and marine waters. The disaggregated chemical quality data provided by EEA Member Countries and the data aggregated by the ETC Water from both EEA Member Countries and Marine Conventions, up to the last year of requested data, are available to be viewed and downloaded from the publicly accessible Waterbase, hosted by the EEA Data Service at:
http://dataservice.eea.europa.eu/dataservice/metadetails.asp?id=1045.

Data providers are asked to check and validate the published data, and include any amendments or missing information in the next delivery of data.

Comparable and harmonised data are requested on the concentrations and distribution of hazardous substances in transitional, coastal and marine waters. The focus is on those hazardous substances included as Water Framework Directive Priority Substances, those noted in Lists I and II of the Dangerous Substances Directive, as well as HELCOM and OSPAR Priority Substances, and any other nationally monitored hazardous substances. The determinands are detailed in the codelist attached to the Determinand_HazSubs field. This list is not exhaustive. Countries are asked to provide the name and CAS Number of any additional determinands included in their data submissions.

Data on hazardous substances are requested in disaggregated format. For sample concentration values recorded as below the limit of detection or determination, the concentration field should contain the limit of detection or determination, with the LimitFlag field set to <. Negative values should not be used to represent values below the limit of detection or determination.

The following fields combine to create a unique record in this table: CountryCode, NationalStationID, Year, Month, Day, SampleID, Determinand_HazSubs and SampleDepth. Please use the SampleID field to distinguish between multiple samples. The SampleID field should be populated with a default value of 0 if single samples are taken.

We would like to encourage all countries to provide data on hazardous substances in seawater, for as many stations, for as many determinands, and for as long a time series as possible.]]></dd3:Methodology>
